Will the program consider courses offered at universities outside of Canada for the education grant?
Graduate level university courses offered outside of Canada may be eligible for the education grant provided that the courses are recognized by the governing body for the profession such as the Ontario College of Social Workers.
Can Ontario Public Service employees apply for the education grant?
No, Ontario Public Service employees are not eligible to apply for an education grant.
Will the program consider courses in other Human Service disciplines for an education grant?
Graduate level courses leading to other Human Service degrees such as a Master of Arts in Human Development Studies, may be considered for an education grant based on the individual circumstances of each case.
Am I eligible to apply for an education grant if I've participated in the former Northern Bursary Program?
Yes. Although the Northern Bursary Program is no longer in existence, anyone who has taken advantage of that program may be eligible to apply for an education grant.
When can I expect to receive my education grant payments?
The grant amount is divided into two equal payments, one at the beginning of the course and one following successful completion of the course. The second payment is conditional upon receipt of a copy of your tuition fees and a transcript of your marks at the end of the course.
What happens if I’m approved for a grant and then I change courses or withdraw from a course?
It is your responsibility to inform the program administrator immediately of any intention to change or drop a course. If you fail to do so and continue to receive grant payments, you will be liable to repay the grant plus interest and you will be prevented from applying for any further grants.
What happens if I'm approved for a grant and I fail the course?
Once you are approved for funding, you are responsible for ensuring that you meet all academic requirements to continue in and successfully complete your funded course(s)/program. If you must re-enrol in a course that you have failed, you are responsible for the tuition related to that course. This program will not fund the same program/course twice.
